SpecPro Board of Directors


The SpecPro board of directors is made up of 6 individuals elected by shareholders to guide the corporation. This diverse group of individuals is united by its common mission to protect and manage the assets of the Corporation to benefit the shareholders through consistent growth and increasing profitability while promoting the heritage of its shareholders and their descendants.

 

The board members are the same as our shareholders in terms of goals and experiences. Some work for profit, nonprofit, or government businesses. Other directors rely primarily on subsistence or commercial fishing. Some live in the Bristol Bay region, others in Anchorage. All are committed to the success of SpecPro, to serving our shareholders, and to "Enriching our Native way of Life."

 

 

SpecPro Board of Directors

  • Michael Carter, Chairman of the Board

     

·        Mike was born in Fort Yukon and raised in Fairbanks. He graduated from University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1969 with a BA in mathematics and English. He spent 20 years in the Air Force as a C-141 pilot and a communications/computer officer. Mike obtained a Masters in computer science and business administration. He currently is the information technology auditor at Alyeska Pipeline. Mike serves as the president of BBNC subsidiary, Vista International Operations, and board member of a BBNC subsidiary SpecPro. Mike's mother and grandmother were from Nushagak in the Bristol Bay area across the water from Dillingham.

 

 

  • April Ferguson, Board Member

 

·        April Ferguson is a Board member of SpecPro, Inc. and resides in Anchorage, Alaska.  An Alaska Native and Harvard Law graduate, April is a shareholder of Bristol Bay Native Corporation an ANSCA corporation which represents the people of Southwest Alaska.  She has served as Vice-President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Bristol Bay Native Corporation for the last ten years.  April currently sits on the Board of Kakivik Asset Management, a NDT corrosion technology firm, and Bristol Environmental Services Corporation, specializing in construction and environmental projects.  She is a past board member of the Alaska ACLU and a strong supporter of PBS radio. April has an undergraduate degree in Linguistics, a Masters Certificate in Program Management and enjoys traveling.

 

 

  • Dorothy M. Larson, Board Member

 

Dorothy M. Larson of Anchorage and Dillingham, a village in the BBNC Region. Dorothy has served on the BBNC Board of Directors for the past 8 years and on the SpecPro Board since its inception. Other engagements include serving on the BBNC Education Foundation for many years as well as other education boards and commissions nationally, statewide and locally at the K-12 and University levels. She has been active in civic affairs, worked for the Alaska State Legislature for ten years, a lifelong commercial fisherman, worked for the Alaska Federation of Natives as Executive Vice President and Co-Director for an educational reform project.   Served 7 years on the state Human Rights Commission.   Has an Associate of Arts, Bachelor of Arts and pursuing a master of arts in rural development, all from the University of Alaska system.  6 children, 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
